New Citizenship Code- F1 Visa students

The AFA card has been revised to reflect the new citizenship code of 7 to designate F-1 Visa Students in SPAPERS. Please contact Bev Heasley or Diane Mendoza when you encounter an F1 Visa student so that a hold can be placed on the student’s account. If the student’s status changes, refer them to Diane M. so she can make the appropriate changes.

Meebo Implementation

The Admissions and Records website has been updated to include Meebo which is an online chat feature. Bev Heasley is currently running the chat feature as a soft pilot through the Winter term. If successful, the service will be officially roll out will be during the Spring term. A FAQ was developed for staff to have a script to refer to while answering inquiries on Meebo which is being expanded during the soft pilot.

Records Webpage

The Records Website has been updated and now includes all pertinent Records forms including the new Transcript/Records Form [PDF].

Overriding holds

Diane directed staff to refer to document the available on the A&R blog as to which holds cannot be overridden. Programming is in progress to allow students with a D1/D2 Scholastic Dismissal hold to register for classes online without restrictions, as their hold currently prevents them from registering using myGateway.

Banner downtime procedures

New procedures have been developed for staff to refer to when Banner is not available. Diane announced that staff should not collect fees when Banner is down.

VTEA Survey

The VTEA Survey is now online for student to complete prior to registration. Please inform students as they call or stop by the office.

Mobile application

The mobile application is now available for Blackberry. If you have a new iPhone 4S, you will need to uninstall the app and reinstall in order for it to work.

Collection of email addresses/Updating Phone numbers

As a reminder, make sure to check registration forms for any updates so that students can be notified in a timely manner for class cancellations or other changes. An email notification is under development for students to be alerted when a hold is placed on their account.
