With the absence of local high school summer school programs, SCE has experienced an increase in the number of minor students wishing to enroll in both tuition and apportionment courses. Particularly popular are courses in computer graphics, foreign language, and photography. We have developed a special process for these students though all admissions must still be approved by a Dean. Despite considerable demand, we will not admit minor students to adult martial arts classes for liability reasons.  Separate martial arts classes for kids and teens have been established to meet this demand.

Just a reminder for all registering students in person.  Session II of Swimming at Cypress Starts on Tuesday July 6^th due to Monday being the holiday.

IF you can remember – it’s possibly a good idea to either write on the receipt for the parents or tell them and have them write it – that the 1^st week is Tues through Friday and the 2^nd week is Monday through Thursday. (All swim sessions are two weeks long – but only 4 days per week).   When the receipts print they are printing M-F and I think this is confusing to the parents.  

We attempted to input the classes on one line in banner & in two lines to see which printed best for parents.  BOTH ways seem to confuse them, so it’s just a good idea to reiterate verbally to them when they register for Swim Classes.

The following are the published dates for the SCE 2010 Summer Term registration:

· Thursday, May 27: CTE Online Registration

· Tuesday, June 1: SCE Online Registration

· Wednesday, June 2: Walk-In Registration

In the Spring Term, SCE piloted an early CTE online registration.  As indicated in the above dates, we will repeat this practice in the Summer Term as it provided the following benefits:

• Accommodated the high volume of registration activity for these popular CTE courses.
• Reduced the impact on the District server
• Allowed control of registration in duplicate courses (not allowing CTE students to register for more than one CRN for a specific course)
• Distributed a large amount of helpline calls over a two-day period

Online registration will begin at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 27 for CTE registration and Tuesday, June 1 for SCE registration.  Computers for online registration are available on Thursday, May 27 and Tuesday, June 1 at the SCE registration offices at the following times:

• Anaheim Campus and SCE Wilshire Center at 7:00 a.m.
• SCE Cypress Center at 7:30 a.m.

SCE 2010 SUMMER TERM CLASS SCHEDULE
The SCE 2010 Summer Term Class Schedule will be delivered to campuses and our local community members the week of May 10, 2010.  The schedule is now posted online at www.sce.edu/schedule.  Summer classes begin the week of June 28, 2010.

ONLINE REGISTRATION WORKSHOPS
Workshops are available to provide students with tips, checklists and information for a successful online registration experience. All students are welcome to attend.  Workshops will be held at the following dates/locations:
* Tuesday, 5/25:  12:00 noon – SCE Wilshire Center, Rm 214
* Wednesday, 5/26: 10:00 a.m. – Anaheim Campus, Rm 606
* Wednesday, 5/26: 7:30 p.m. – Anaheim Campus, Rm 606

* Friday, 9 am to 2 pm
