SCE A&R Channel Now Available in myGateway
Special thanks to Adam Howard for adding this feature. If you would like to add the SCE A&R Blog as a channel in myGateway, log into myGateway and then click on the content layout link located on the top left. Make sure that the tab you want to add the SCE A&R Channel is selected and then click on New Channel in the column you want to add the SCE A&R blog to. Once you click on New Channel, you will be prompted to select a category. Using the pull down menu, select News, click Go and then under Subcategory, select Institution. Scroll to SCE A&R Corner, click on it and then click the Add Channel button. Once you have added the channel, you can click on Return to SCE tab to get back to your regular view of myGateway. Voila!
Now Available! Alphanumeric PIN/password to log into myGateway
The rumors are true. As the district is expanding myGateway, one of the exciting changes is the ability to have an alphanumeric PIN. And as the word PIN stands for “Personal Identification Number", it becomes a misnomer in this case so you will likely see the words “PIN/password” to accurately describe it.
With the capability to use both letters and numbers for your myGateway PIN/password, security is increased as well as flexibility in choosing a password that you can remember. PINs/Passwords for myGateway will remain six characters long.
Many thanks to Adam Howard and District IS for this new feature!
WebStar Credit Card Processing Availability
A change has been made to the hours that web credit card payments are unavailable on Tuesday mornings. To avoid complicating the Bursar’s balancing process, it is necessary to keep web credit card payments disabled between 11:50 p.m. and the completion of the weekly maintenance procedures at 6:00 a.m. This also means that students will not be able to order official transcripts between 11:50 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. on Monday nights/Tuesday mornings.
A portion of the Web Information Text has been changed from:
2. Weekly maintenance.
Tuesday mornings:
For a few minutes, sometime between 5:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.
To:
2. Weekly maintenance.
Monday nights/Tuesday mornings:
11:50 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
Refund Processing
No refunds are processed until after the 2nd week of a new term. For the summer term, the earliest refunds will processed is July 8, 2008. This applies to both canceled classes and to the Refund Petitions.
Due to the fact that SCE refund checks are actually cut by the Fullerton Bursar Office on their processing schedule, it takes between 6 and 8 weeks for the check to be in the mail. Please keep this in mind when responding to student inquiries.
Please do not tell students that they will receive their refund “in a couple of weeks". Most of the time, this is not the case and the student becomes upset.
If you have any questions about the process, please Melda Lara a call at 29522. Thank you for your hard work!
Banner Address and Ethnicity Update
A new software package called Clean Address has been implemented in Banner effective March 11, 2008. Clean Address is a software package that verifies address data conforms to US Postal service specifications. The verification of data is done as you are inputting into Banner. District IS hopes to soon have this functionality on every form used to do address updates in Banner in the hopes that we can soon turn on self-service address changes in WebStar. If you are someone who creates new records on SPAIDEN or who updates addresses, we’d appreciate your feedback on this enhancement. Please email Diane Mendoza or Beverly Heasley with your input.
There’s also a new field in Banner that you may have noticed on the biographical tab of SPAIDEN. The new field called “New Ethnicity” came with the updated 7.3D version of Banner. At this point in time the field should remain at the default of “none.” As you’ve been doing, the students ethnicity should be entered in the “Ethnicity” field.
