Fall Registration Update - 200915 Term
There has been some confusion as to the registration date for SCE students. Please note that registration for general SCE classes will begin on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 online with in-person registration starting August 26, 2009.
Students wishing to enroll in a dual-listed class (i.e., cabinet/millwork, woodshop, etc.) will be able to register starting on Tuesday, August 11, 2009. These classes are noted in the SCE schedule under the heading ‘Cypress College Fall Courses Offered Through SCE.’ The start date was selected to accommodate the earlier start of dual-listed classes.
If you are unsure of your registration date, feel free to contact any of our SCE offices:
Anaheim SCE- (714) 808-4645
Cypress SCE- (714) 484-7038
Wilshire SCE- (714) 992-9500
OAP update
Please be aware that students can register at any of the three SCE campuses for most OAP classes. The exceptions are the following classes; Balance & Mobility for Older Adults, Matter of Balance, and Health Living; Ongoing Health. For the classes mentioned, a “register in class” code has been built on the section screen that will alert the registration staff that the student must register in class. In these cases, the student should take their student ID number and a completed registration form with them to the facility to inquire with the instructor. If there is available space, the instructor will allow the student to attend and will forward the registration form for processing. Please make certain the student has been admitted and has a student ID number prior to directing them to the facility.
Students wishing to register for all other OAP classes may do so at any SCE campus registration counter. After completing the registration process at the front counter please provide a schedule bill/printout as proof of registration, and instruct the student to bring it along with them the first day they will be attending class.
Hold Code Update
C2 and C3 “Disciplinary Removal” hold codes have been added to the form as holds that must not be overridden. If you should encounter a situation where a student would like to register for a SCE class and has a hold mentioned above, or any hold indicated on the attached form, please refer them to the person indicated on the form at the number provided. The document is available below for your reference.
SCE Student Admissions Reminder
It appears the issue of admitting credit students to SCE is persisting and resulting in many credit students losing their permission to register, or in the case of international students, losing their residency status. It’s been a while since we’ve had a reminder of the policy that was established when Banner was implemented in 2001 related to admitting credit students at SCE.
Our policy is as follows: When registering a student with a Fullerton or Cypress College SGASTDN record that is within the last five years (2004 or more current), do not admit the student as an SCE student. Simply proceed to SFAREGS and register the student in the SCE class they have requested. If the student has a SGASTDN record dated 2003 or earlier, you may admit them as an SCE student and register them as requested. Should you have the student in front of you, you may want to ask them to confirm they are no longer attending Cypress or Fullerton College.
It is imperative those admitting SCE students are aware of and adhere to this policy. This along with other important items will be reviewed at the Fall Registration meeting scheduled for August 19th at 1:30pm. In the meantime, if you’re unclear of the process please don’t hesitate to call Diane Mendoza and she will be happy to provide further explanation and guidance.
Fall Registration Start Date Updated
The first day of Fall 200915 registration has been changed to begin Tuesday, August 25, 2009. This later date will permit Provost Staff and Program Managers more time to prepare the schedule to reflect the changing budget situation.
