Dr. Doffoney’s Memo and Addendum

Ned Doffoney

As this year school year comes to an end Chancellor, Dr. Ned Doffoney took a minute to reflect on the accomplishments that have been made and what’s to come. In a memo Dr. Doffoney released May 20th, he states that this year has been a year full of memories, and one that he will remember forever.

Much was accomplished this past year in the NOCCCD. Christine Terry was named the new Provost of the School of Continuing Education (SCE), the SCE Wilshire Center was opened, and The new Student/Center/Bookstore and Gateway Plaza at Cypress College was opened just to name a few.

As Dr. Doffoney finishes his first year as Chancellor he does want to remind every one of the obstacles that do lie ahead of us as he explained in his addendum. A couple of weeks ago Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger announced a proposal of budget cuts to ease the money crisis in the state of California. Doffoney states, “We weathered the budget storm earlier this year, as noted in my memos to you during the past several months. That metaphor no longer stands, however. Many things are different now.” But as things may begin to change Dr. Doffoney does not want you to forget all the wonderful things that have been achieved this past year. As Dr. Doffoney stated in the May 20th memo, “The time to focus on our growing budget problem will come soon enough.”
