SCE’s 2010 Graduation Ceremony, “Success Cultivated - Dreams Achieved,” will be held on Friday, June 18 at 6:00 p.m. at the Fullerton Union High School Stadium.
Three successful SCE students will be featured at the upcoming ceremony.
Anaheim Campus High School Lab student LaMonda Rigdon will be the high school graduate speaker at the SCE Gradation Ceremony. LaManda Rigdon completed her High School Diploma credits on May 18, 2010 with honors, earning a 3.72 grade point average. She enrolled in the Anaheim High School Lab in October 2009 and studied in the lab every day, Monday through Friday. With support provided by SCE’s Adult College & Career Transitions Program (ACCT), LaManda is scheduled to continue her studies at Cypress College this upcoming Fall 2010 semester. LaManda plans to complete her general education requirements at Cypress College to prepare her to work with children in the healthcare industry.
Jesse Rodriguez has been selected as the career technical education certificate graduate speaker. After 30 years in the printing business, Jesse found himself unemployed after his company closed in this down-turn economy. Because of the great demand for pharmacy technicians and SCE’s fast-track program, Jesse has nearly completed his Pharmacy Technician Certificate Program in just one year. He has recently passed both the state and national pharmacy technician certification exams and will begin his externship this summer. Jesse’s goal is to acquire a job in an in-patient hospital pharmacy or working directly with patients. He is excited about his pharmacy technician experience being a springboard to a future career as a physician assistant or cardiologist.
David Jacob Morales will sing the national anthem at the June 18th graduation ceremony. At 22-years-old, Jacob graduated from the Wilshire High School Lab on May 18, 2010. At the age of 15, Jacob performed at Carnegie Hall in New York as a soloist. In the years following, Jacob received “Singer of the Year” twice from Rotary International as well as awards such as “Best Soloist” and “Student of the Month” for Jazz Vocals. Jacob’s goals are to continue his education in music, transition to Fullerton College and transfer to a four-year university, and one day sing the National Anthem at a San Jose Sharks game.
The ceremony will also feature Commencement Speaker Bobby McDonald, President and Executive Director of the Black Chamber of Commerce of Orange County Bobby McDonald, as well as Faculty Sepaker George Dooley, SCE Counselor.
SCE’s projected high school diploma graduate count is 375! SCE’s graduation ceremony also honors hundreds of students who will earn a SCE career technical education certificate.
