SCE Graduation Celebrates Diploma and Certificate Students
SCE’s 2012 Graduation Ceremony, “Success Cultivated - Dreams Achieved,” celebrated the achievements of nearly 400 high school diploma and career technical education students on June 15, 2012 at the Fullerton Union High School Stadium. Students enjoyed retiring Provost Christine Terry’s keynote address as well as faculty member Dr. Joshua Smith’s inspiring speech. High school diploma student speakers Jesse and Pat Espinoza, husband and wife who completed their diploma studies together, were featured in the Orange County Register’s online photo gallery of graduates.

SCE Student Success Event Honors Diligence and Determination
Over 300 students received certificates, honors and awards at the tenth annual SCE Student Success Event held June 6, 2012 at the Cypress College (CC) Theater. Sixteen students also received the 2012 Student Success Award; these students were nominated by their instructors and honored for their academic achievement and ability to overcome barriers to success.
Students were honored for achieving the following:
* 121 students completed the English as a Second Language (ESL) advanced level, the highest of six levels.
* 90 students completed the ESL Academic Success program, aimed specifically at preparing students to transfer to college.
* 31 students earned the Disabled Student Program transition certificate, achieving greater goals for independence.
* 34 students earned a certificate for passing the SCE Citizenship Program as well as the U.S. citizenship exam.
* 18 scholarships were awarded, ranging from $50 to $500.
