Monday, October 22 is Deadline to Register to Vote for November Election

 

Register to VoteAll community members are invited to register, or re-register, by Monday, October 22 in order to vote in the Tuesday, November 6 election.  Critical choices will be made at this election including our local and national leaders, issues affecting education funding, the state budget process and more.  Every vote counts; complete voter registration by the deadline of Monday, October 22.

 

Registering to vote has never been easier.  For the first time, Californians can reigister to vote online: voter registration.   All directions on how to fill out hte voter registration form as well as important notices and  frequently asked questions are included in the web link.  This form is also available in Spanish.  Register, or re-register, to vote if you are a new first-time voter, you have changed your name, you have moved and changed your address, you want to change your political party.

 

You are eligible to vote in California if you are a United States citizen, a resident of California, 18 years of age or older on Election Day, not currently serving any part of a felony sentence (see the Secretary of State’s website for more information), and not found by a court to be mentally incompetent.

 

The website www.smartvoter.org, developed by the League of Women Voters, provides nonpartisan and trustowrty information about measures and candidates to make informed choices.  You can also find your polling place and view your own personalized ballot on the website to prepare for election day.

 

Don’t miss the opportunity to make your voice heard.  Register before the deadline of Monday, Ocotober 22 and then vote on Tuesday, November 6.
