Educational, Job Opportunities Promoted for Adults with Disabilities at Transition Night Event

 

DSPS_transitionnightOpportunities for adults with disabilities will be promoted at the Disabled Student Programs and Services (DSPS) of the North Orange County Community College District’s School of Continuing Education (SCE) annual Transition Night, held this year at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the Anaheim Campus (1830 W. Romneya Drive, Anaheim, CA 92801).

 

Members of the community are invited to attend this free event to learn more about the independent options for living, working and attending educational programs for adults with disabilities.  Special presentations will be made on experiencing college life, SCE’s mobility (transportation program) and job preparation courses, independent living skills, protection and advocacy for adults with disabilities.  A workshop will also be presented on how individuals can access services and what to do if access is denied.

 

DSPS_artshowSCE student ambassadors will provide tours of the campus and program classes as well as hosting a student art exhibit, career exploration tables, and a “Dress for Success Fashion Show.”

 

Vendors from over 60 community agencies will also share information including those with independent living and housing programs, social security, transportation agencies and education programs, including Cypress College and Fullerton College.

NEWLY ADDED: Medical Assistant Information Workshops for 2013 Spring Term

 

Four new Information Workshops have been added for community members interested in beginning their Medical Assistant Certificate Program with SCE this spring.  In order to register for Medical Assistant Certificiate Program classes, students MUST attend an Information Workshop session. The Information Workshops provide an overview of the program, detail which courses are required for the certificate and what order to take them in, as well as job outlook, salary and tips on a successful registration.

 

The NEWLY ADDED Information Workshops will be held at the Anaheim Campus, Room 101 on the following dates:

  • Monday, March 11, 2013 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.
  • Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
  • Tuesday, March 19, 2013 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
  • Tuesday, march 19, 2013 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Arrive ON TIME; latecomers will not be admitted.  A one-day parking pass is REQUIRED and costs $2 CASH (exact change needed).  For more information, call the SCE Career Technical Educaiton Certifcate information line at 714.808.4681, option 4.

SCE 2013 Spring Term Class Schedule Now Available; Registration Begins in March


2013_Spring_Schedule_CoverThe School of Continuing Education (SCE) 2013 Spring Term class schedule is now available at all three SCE Centers and on the website at www.sce.edu/schedule.  Classes begin the week of April 8, 2013.  Following is additional information regarding the 2013 Spring Term:

 

REGISTRATION DATES FOR 2013 SPRING TERM
• Wednesday, March 6, 2013 – Medical Assistant Certificate Program Online Registration ONLY*
• Tuesday, March 12, 2013 – Career Technical Education (CTE) Online Registration
• Wednesday, March 13, 2013 – SCE Online Registration
• Thursday, March 14, 2013 – Walk-In Registration

 

Online registration begins at 7 a.m.  Computers for online registration are available at the SCE registration offices at the Anaheim Campus and SCE Wilshire Center at 7 a.m. and at the SCE Cypress Center at 7:30 a.m.

 

*Students wanting to register for Medical Assistant Certificate Program courses are REQUIRED to attend a program Information Workshop.  See below, or page 22 of the printed SCE 2013 Spring Term class schedule, for additional details.

 

A clock symbol has been placed in the class schedule to indicate the CTE courses that are eligible for registration on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 7 a.m.

 

CTE CERTIFICATE PROGRAM INFORMATION WORKSHOPS
It is HIGHLY recommended that NEW students attend a CTE certificate program information workshop. The information workshop will provide students with an overview of the program, certificate and course requirements, the registration process, and the employment outlook.

All of the information workshops will be held from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Board Room (Room 101) of the NOCCCD Anaheim Campus at 1830 W. Romneya Drive, Anaheim, CA 92801.  Be on time; latecomers will not be admitted.

  • Administrative Assistant Certificate Program: Tuesday, March 5, 2013
  • Early Childhood Education Certificate Program: Wednesday, March 6, 2013
  • Pharmacy Technician Certificate Program: Thursday, March 7, 2013
  • Personal Care Aide Program (attend one of the following):

* Monday, April 1, 2013:  10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
* Monday, April 1, 2013:  3 p.m. – 5 p.m.
* Monday, May 6, 2013:  10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
* Monday, May 6, 2013:   3 p.m. – 5 p.m.

 

MEDICAL ASSISTANT CERTIFICATE PROGRAM REMINDER: Registration for the Medical Assistant Certificate Program is prior to the main SCE registration period.  Students must attend the information workshop to receive information about registration.  Contact 714.808.4915 with questions.

Pique Interests and Boost Skills: Register Kids and Teens for 2013 Winter Term Classes

 

KCTP_writingParents are invited to register their kids and teens for classes at the North Orange County Community College District’s School of Continuing Education’s (SCE) Kids’ College and Teen Program (KC&TP).  SCE offers stimulating classroom, musical, artistic and athletics programs that for years has piqued the interests of kids and teens.  Classes are offered in Anaheim, Cypress and Fullerton.

 

Parents can view the 2013 Winter Class Schedule (which include course descriptions and fees) online at www.sce.edu/kids.
