KC artParents can pick from more than 250 classes and camps for their kids this summer through SCE’s Kids’ College & Teen Program.  Our fun, affordable program offers sessions in three locations – Anaheim, Cypress and Fullerton – for kids and teens ages 6 months to 17 years.

 

KC computerKids can get a jump on next school year, and resist the summer “brain drain,” with review classes and small-group tutoring in math, reading, writing and science. Classes in organization, memory power, public speaking, career exploration, clutter busting and research techniques will help kids make the grade.

 

Or sign up for “just for fun” classes and camps focused on everything from cartoon drawing to computer animation, hip-hop dance, beekeeping, baking, anime drawing, exploring the Titanic and so much more.

SCE Celebrates 2012 Graduates and Award Winners

 

SCE Graduation Celebrates Diploma and Certificate Students
2012 SCE GraduationSCE’s 2012 Graduation Ceremony, “Success Cultivated - Dreams Achieved,” celebrated the achievements of nearly 400 high school diploma and career technical education students on June 15, 2012 at the Fullerton Union High School Stadium.  Students enjoyed retiring Provost Christine Terry’s keynote address as well as faculty member Dr. Joshua Smith’s inspiring speech.  High school diploma student speakers Jesse and Pat Espinoza, husband and wife who completed their diploma studies together, were featured in the Orange County Register’s online photo gallery of graduates.

SCE Student Success Event Honors Diligence and Determination
Over 300 students received certificates, honors and awards at the tenth annual SCE Student Success Event held June 6, 2012 at the Cypress College (CC) Theater.  Sixteen students also received the 2012 Student Success Award; these students were nominated by their instructors and honored for their academic achievement and ability to overcome barriers to success.

 

2012 Student Success EventStudents were honored for achieving the following:
* 121 students completed the English as a Second Language (ESL) advanced level, the highest of six levels.
* 90 students completed the ESL Academic Success program, aimed specifically at preparing students to transfer to college.
* 31 students earned the Disabled Student Program transition certificate, achieving greater goals for independence.
* 34 students earned a certificate for passing the SCE Citizenship Program as well as the U.S. citizenship exam.
* 18 scholarships were awarded, ranging from $50 to $500.

Registration Now Open for SCE's 2012 Summer Term

 

The 2012 Summer Term is now open for registration!  Check out our class  offerings at www.sce.edu/schedule.

 

SCE’s Lifeskills Education Advancement Program (LEAP) will host seven new dance and fitness classes while the Kids’ College and Teen Program will once again offer a full swim program.  Hosted at the Cypress College pool, the summer swim program will have classes for beginners through advanced swimmers, divers and water polo players.

 

Most classes begin the week of July 2, 2012, however some Kids’ College & Teen Program classes begin the week of June 25, 2012.  Check class start and end dates.

 

Summer Time = Fun Time for Kids and Teens!
Parents can keep their children busy this Summer at SCE with over 250 classes and camp options!  Kids and teens can strengthen their skills, challenge their creativity and have a ball at the three SCE campuses in Anaheim, Cypress and Wilshire (Fullerton).

SCE Celebrates the 2012 Graduation on June 15, 2012

ImageHundreds of SCE students will recieve high school diplomas and career certificates at the June 15, 2012 graduation ceremony.  For all graduation information, click on the link here: 2012 SCE graduation information.

 

Below are a few key details:

 

LOCATION: At the Fullerton High School Stadium (on the corner of Lemon Street & Berkeley Avenue).

TIME: Orientation for graduates: 5:30 p.m.; Ceremony starts at 6:30 p.m.  SHARP!

Students will be briefed on the graduation ceremony line-up and seating arrangements. Please report to the Fullerton HIgh School Stadium - Lemon Street entrance by 5:30 p.m. Staff will direct you to the student gathering area.  The gathering area is for students only; family and friends will be invited to be seated in the stadium.

 

PARKING: SCE graduation parking is available on June 15, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at no charge in the Fullerton College Lemon Street parking structure (across the street from the stadium).  There are limited disabled parking spaces in the Fullerton High School parking lot on Lemon Street at the stadium entrance.  Cars mush show a disabled placard to park in this location.

Prepare for 2012 Summer Registration

 

SCE Summer Schedule CoverSCE’s summer term registration begins the week of June 12, 2012.  Check out our handy registration checklist that will help you in preparing for registration.

  • Tuesday, June 12: Online registration for Career Technical Education classes
  • Wednesday, June, 13: Online registration for all SCE classes
  • Thursday, June 14: Walk-in registration for all SCE classes

 

It is important for students to know the following before registering:

  • Do you know your SCE USER ID and PIN?
  • Do you know if you have a HOLD on your account?
  • Have you met any needed PREREQUISITES?
  • Do you know your class CRNs (Course Registration Number)?
  • If your classes are full, do you have ALTERNATE CRNs ready?

If you don’t have the answers to the above questions, check out our registration checklist for tips on locating this information. Plan ahead to avoid waiting in long lines and delaying enrollment in classes.
