Get Ready to ShakeOut this Thursday, October 17, 2013

ShakeOut_13Millions of people worldwide will practice how to “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” at 10:17 a.m. on Thursday, October 17, 2013 during Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drills, which began in California in 2008.

SCE will be joining 9.5 million participants (and counting) in the Great California ShakeOut Drill. All students, faculty and staff are asked to practice the drop, cover and hold on exercise and then safely evacuate to their Center’s designated location. Evacuation zones are as follows:

  • Anaheim Campus: far west parking lot
  • Cypress Center TE-2: the grass area in front of parking lot 4
  • Cypreses Center SCE/100: the area in front of the quad
  • Wilshire Center: the Sculpture Garden at the corner of Lemon and Chapman

Remain in your evacuation areas until instructed to return to your class/building.  If you have additional questions, ask your instructor, manager or SCE Center Dean of Instruction and Student Services.  Thank you in advance for participating in this drill.

Earthquakes happen without warning. It is important to be prepared — both at home and at work. Learn more at www.shakeout.org/california.  The website has many different resources, including these two documents: Recommended Earthquake Safety Actions (PDF); Earthquake Guide for People with Disabilities (PDF).
